D1Essex Island Council Meeting 24 June 2006District 1 held its Council meeting at the Essex Island Marina Saturday 24 June 2006. The Council host squadron was Milford. Even though the weather was "wet" and some events had to be cancelled (such as the flare demonstration) many other activities were held as planned. You'll notice in the photos the "Blessing Of The Fleet" ceremony presided over by Chaplain Paul Bialecki where, after blessings and prayers many flowers were consigned to the waters. Council host Squadron Milford provided excellent refreshments for the Council meeting break. Meriden PS went on to host the rest of the program which included the end of the day BBQ featuring hot dogs, cheeseburgers, salads and fruit.
