Posted July 30th, 2012: Walter (Terry) BOBOWSKI
It is with deep sadness thatΒ I must tell you that Walter Bobowski passed away Monday July 23 2012. Walter was a Asst State Director on my staff for 8 years. He was a chapter member in the Mountain Laurels for many years. Both Sharon and Walter were always there to give a helping hand to anyone. If anyone would like to send Sharon and the Family a card .Her address is Sharon Bobowski 177 Kenyon St. Hartford Ct 06105. Walter’s obit is appended below. Sharon and the girls are going to have a memorial Service at the home tentative Aug 5th. Walter will be truly missed.
BOBOWSKI, Walter (Terry)
Walter (Terry) Bobowski, 73, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2012. He was born in Hartford, CT to Walter and Beatrice (Johansen) Bobowski. Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be fondly remembered for his outgoing personality, warm smile, his ability to make new friends wherever he went and his love of life, camping, fishing and boating. His talent for restoring, designing and constructing were not only the foundation of his long career in carpentry but can be seen in his beautiful home and 1973 Grady White boat which are the legacy of his passions. He is survived by his wife and faithful travel companion Sharon; his daughters Michelle Skoplyak, her husband Yaroslav and beloved grandson Nikolas of Rocky Hill, CT; and Lauren Bobowski of Tahoe City, CA. He is also survived by siblings David Bobowski and wife Sandra, Debra Knight, Lynn Shand and Richard Bobowski, as well as several nieces and a nephew. He will also be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Ida McKee, his Mt. Laurel camping family as well as innumerable friends he has collected along the way.
Weep not for me,
for I am free.
the deep blue sea.
Where my soul longs to be.
Family and friends are invited to join in a gathering to celebrate his life on Sunday, August 5, 1-5 p.m. at his home. Donations in his memory may be made to the Walter J. Bobowski Memorial Fund at The Connecticut River Museum, 67 Main St., Essex, CT 06426. Arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc.

Date: Monday August 15th: Rick came home yesterday. He is doing much better. Let's hope it stays this way. Thank you again for all of your thoughts, prayers, emails and phone calls and visits to the hospital. Hopefully this will be the last update.
Date: Tuesday, August 9th, 2011: I thought Rick was doing great but today I found out I was wrong. Rick was admitted to Jordan Hospital with a blood oxygen of 73 while on oxygen. When all of the test came back Rick has small blood clots in both lungs and pneumonia in the good lung. He will be there for a few days. i will keep everyone posted
Date: Wednesday, June 29, 2011, 11:12 AM
Rick is still in ICU. He had a bronoskopy (sp?) done this morning to check to see how he was healing on the inside and to remove a lot of mucus. He will be in ICU for another night as the nurse patient ratio is 2 to 1 and he needs to be watched. They are going to try one of their C-Pap machines on him today to see if that will help him sleep. I will go back late this afternoon to see how he is doing.
Date: Tuesday, June 28, 2011, 8:06 PM
Rick is still in ICU awaiting a bed in telemetry unit. Had a lot of pain & discomfort today. Had to have pain meds increased. Surgeon said he is doing well and all functions look good. Thanks for all of your thoughts & prayers. Elise
Date: Monday, June 27, 2011, 9:11 PM
Rick spent 8 hours in surgery today. The doctor would not let me leave the hospital. Many thanks to Linda Porazzo who came and spent 8.5 hours in the waiting room with me. They removed 1/3 of his right lung and the mass was cancerous. They took biopsies of lymph nodes and we will have to wait those results. I saw Rick for 5 minutes after surgery and the vent was out but he was having difficulty breathing so they were sending him to ICU instead of the telemetry unit. They assigned him a anesthesiologist doctor for the night. I will call later and see how he is doing. Thank you to everyone for all of the thoughts and prayers they are greatly appreciated. Elise

Since 1996, the Good Sam club has held a National Cleanup Day to remove litter from our public roads and lands. Hundreds of Good Sam chapters and thousands of individuals take part each year, cleaning up tons of litter. To each and every one of you I give you a well deserved thank you and good job!
This year we have chosen the weekend of May 21st – 22nd, a week before Memorial Day weekend, so that we can help prepare our public lands for the traditional camping season.
This year’s cleanup theme is “helping to Preserve our Public Lands” since so many roads, parks and other public recreation areas need help before the crush of summertime visitors. We have free trash bags for everyone participating, which we will ship upon request. Participants can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call toll free at 888-765-4220 to request bags.
This year’s Cleanup Day is being co-sponsored by Camping world. If there is a Camping world near the chapters that are participating they are invited to bring their full trash bags to the store – they will have dumpsters available, but also want to recognize their efforts by offering free refreshments. Last but certainly not least, every Good Sam member participating in Cleanup Day can enter a drawing to win lots of great Camping World merchandise.
The brochure should be ready in a few weeks and will be mailed to the Chapter Presidents.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks Diana

20 June 2007 - Click HERE for Ira Bates obituary. Also, this just in re the Lost Dog:
First I would like to thank you for another great Samboree. We had a great time and look forward to next year. On a second and more important note, We (my wife and myself) would like to thank you and your staff for the great effort they took in trying to locate our lost Jack Russell Terrier. Milo is back home with us now after spending a week at the Bolton Vet Hospital. He is recovering slowly but the prospects are getting better every day. He took a bad hit to the head, and had swelling of the brain and blood in the lungs. The lungs are clear and the swelling is almost gone. He is walking short distances, but does fall over at times. The vet said that should clear up in time. The worst problem is he may not regain sight in his right eye, but only time will tell. He is strong and a fighter so hopefully he will be back to close to 100%. Again, Thank You and your staff for the assistance in this matter and we all look forward to next years Samboree.
