At Seaport Sams , we've done our best to create a Web site that anticipates and satisfies our members and prospective member needs. With that goal in mind, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions. If you do not find an answer to your question here, contact us at 860 892-5484 or r.payette@snet.net.
QUESTION: How do I join the Seaport Sams Camping Club?
ANSWER : Membership in Seaport Sams is by Application, and governed by our Chapter By-laws. We have made available (by pdf download) a complete application that details the procedure for applying for membership in our Chapter. This data is also available in MS Word by clicking HERE.
Q: How much are the dues?
A: Dues are currently set at $10.00 per year per rig. There is a one time initiation fee, payable with the first year dues, of $5.00.
Q: Can anyone join the club?
A: By Bylaw, our membership is limited to a total of 46 rigs. New membership applications will be placed on a waiting list if we are at full strength when the application is received. No membership dues will be accepted until the application for membership is acted on. Check with a Seaport Sam’s club officer before submitting new member dues!
Q: What do I have to do to maintain my active membership once I get into the club?
A: Our definition of “Active Member” is one who attends, with rig, at least 2 regularly scheduled camp outs per calendar year. Failure to attend required number of camp outs will result in removal from active member list. Those removed can reapply for membership and will be placed on the MIB (Member In Waiting) list. Exceptions may be granted for a valid reason, valid reason being defined as family illness.
Q: How often do you camp, and where do you go?
A: We have scheduled club camp outs from April through October, and often times there are an “Extra” camp out at the very end of the season to wrap things up. Our current camping schedule is posted to our web site. Generally speaking we tend to camp reasonably close to home, home being defined as Southeastern CT.
Q: What days do you camp on?
A: Our “Official” camping weekends go from Friday thru Sunday, but many of our members arrive a day early on Thursday.
Q: What are the camping rates?
A: They vary per campground. Generally we receive a discount based on either being Good Sam members or based on the number of rigs attending the camp out. Some campgrounds give discounts once you reach 10 rigs, with a higher discount at the 20 rig level.
Q: Where do I go for further information?
A: You can call or E-mail any of the Chapter Officers. A complete listing is located on this web site by clicking here.
Q: What are the “Name Tag” rules?
A: We’re glad you asked!! Click here for the Name Tag deployment regs as approved on August 16th, 2008.
