Saturday 25 March 2006 found many members of District 1 at the Groton Inn & Suites for our annual Spring Conference. The Chief Commanders Representative was our own V/C Richard E. Kyle, SN who is currently our National Educational Officer.
V/C Kyle presented a very informative (and at times disturbing) analysis of where the USPS is going, what some of the problems are that we're facing, and what our leaders are proposing to "right the ship" and grow the unit. One thing we know for sure is that action IS being taken to address the problems we face and that "Business As Usual" is not on the menu.
There were awards presented, our new Bridge was sworn in and break-out seminars were provided on a variety of subjects and interests. Westerly Power Squadron was the host Squadron, and the hotel did a great job on accomodations and hospitality.
